Olive, Oy! Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

CopperWings: Arrgh! The olive trees got pruned back again!
There isn't any leaves close enough to the ground for a replacement cache to hide in without having to climb the tree, so I must regretfully archive it.

Geocache Description:

A uniquely camouflaged micro, likely to drive you out of your tree.

The olive tree: No one has ever described it as beautiful. It is squat, shrubby, has gnarled trunks and branches, and the leaves are thin and grayish green. It produces a dull colored fruit that is bitter and unpalatable to people. Yet the ancient Greeks extolled it as a gift from the goddess Athena. That bitter fruit when properly treated becomes a savory addition to many dishes, and when squeezed produces an oil that is second to none in the opinions of gourmet chefs and nutritional health experts. The oil is also a high quality lamp oil, because it burns brightly with no smoke. It is one of the oldest of domesticated plants, having been cultivated for over 7000 years, and mankind has carried it to every continent except Antarctica. It is hardy and long lived: several trees have been confirmed to be over 2000 years old. It is heat tolerant, drought resistant, and actually grows better in poor soils than it does in rich soils, allowing olive farmers to make good use of land that would support no other crops.

The olive trees here were planted for ornamental purposes rather than commercial. Somewhere in these branches hides a camouflaged micro cache. Have fun searching!

Congratulations go to Poehunters and philbeer, for their refusal to allow the FTF on this one to slip away from them.
