NETHER REGIONS (Bucks) Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: Sorry to Rich&Sarah and anyone else who's looked for this one and not found it. I checked the final location today and it has indeed vanished. Since I'm in a bad mood and may be coming out this way less in future (Wicked Step Mother is turning into the Wicked Witch of the West) I'm archiving it rather than replacing the box. Thanks to everyone who visited.

Geocache Description:

This multi-cache is set in and around a sleepy village called Nether (or Lower) Winchendon. It's a very picturesque and quiet place. The hunt requires a walk of about a mile and should take around 40 minutes. Bring a pen & printout, calculator or brainy person as you'll need to make some notes and do some light maths along the way.

NETHER REGIONS (Bucks)

Simply Paul... is nowhere to be seen! This scene is far too attractive to sully with his ugly mug.

Park near the tiny triangular village green and gather figures at the following locations (Note: If walking on the road, keep to the right side to face on-coming traffic and take extra care if caching with children.):

  • In front of the church (also featured in Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason, see below) at N51° 48.233 / W000° 56.290 there's an old fashioned post box in a stone pillar. Its 'Letter Box Number' is HP18 (A)(B)(C)

  • Beyond the village pond at N51° 48.190 / W000° 56.089 is a telegraph pole. It's marked, on a pressed metal sign: COBRA 198(D) INSPECTED Getting here you'll pass the gates to Nether Winchendon House. Fans of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason might recognise it as the location for 'The Christening' deleted scene from the DVD. Most (if not all) of it was shot here.

  • Backtrack to reach a bridge at N51° 48.100 / W000° 56.286. It's marked with a date: 19(E)(F)

The Cache is located at:
N51° E(C-A).B(D+A)(E-A) / W000° FD.(B+C+F)A.

Happy hunting!

While you're in the area, and have a camera, I suggest you try my Puerile Photo-cache No.2 - SPLASHING OUT or else my Chess Themed Geocache No. 3 - BLACK KNIGHT cache. Both are within stout-booted walking/short driving distance.

A small experiment - Please feel free to rate your visit to this cache out of ten in your log.
