Pining for the "Ford"s Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Eckington: Hi, this looks like the cache needs some TLC. Could the owner please undertake a maintenance visit to check it out and replace any damaged items. In the meantime I'm archiving it but I'll happily unarchive it if/when it's sorted assuming it still meets the guidelines.

Thanks, Eckington (eckingtons31@tesco.net)

Geocache Description:

Situated in the newly planted Kendle Woods. Could be tricky with a push chair and boots needed in winter.

This is the first cache placed by the Urban Surfer. It is in a part of Daventry that not many people know about.
Kendle Wood was planted in February 2001 as part of the "Woods On You Doorstep" project. The woods were perhaps named after an ancient burial mound.

I suggest parking at N52 15.439 W001 11.298 but do not block any entrances/exits. (Although this cache can be approached from the opposite side of the "woods" parking would be a lot harder along a main road).

From this parking area there is a public footway indicated. Follow this through approx. 300 yards of track. You will then see the entranceway through the kissing gate.

This is a micro cache but there should be no real problem finding this.

Whilst walking, look towards the South and West for magnifecent view accross the countryside. If you look North/East you will see the Ford's premises that this is named after. (Sometimes there are loads of Landrovers etc. playing on the purpose built 4x4 track of the Daventry 4x4 Club - this is not accessible and is on private property).

Dogs are often walked in this area and Kea, the German Shorthaired Pointer loves it here.
