Cabin Cache Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Wis Kid: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Webster Stanley was the first white settler in Oshkosh. He came from New York to Green Bay in 1834, to move Government supplies up the Fox River to Fort Winnebago in Portage.
In 1836, he moved to the south bank of the Fox River, near where the Oshkosh Golf Course is located, where he purchased the ferry operated by James Knaggs (GC12F9B).
He also bought 118 acres at the mouth of the Fox and relocated the ferry to where the railroad bridge stands today.

The coordinates take you to a stone monolith erected in 1930 by the Winnebago Historical Society and Wisconsin Power and Light.
