Geocache Description:

Cache number 2 of the UNDERWORLD 8 series, all of which are, as the series title suggests, underground.
This one is an offset, Get to the co-ordinates then follow the instructions.

This cache replaces the Archived 'Knackered knees'

This cave was discovered in the early 1800's by Rev. Henry F. Lyte who lived in the present day Berry Head Hotel. He is more noteably known for writing the hymns; Abide with me; God of mercy; God of grace; Praise my soul and The king of heaven.
Remains of badge, fox, raven and rodents found in the cave are now on display in Brixham Museum.
Since the initial find the quarry in which the cave is found has been quarried away and now a second entrance some 10 metres high is the obvious entrance.

Parking is by the cave entrance either in the pay and display car park or there is room for one car immediately past the car park on the side of the road.

From the huge entrance turn to your right and just before a steep slope up in the corner of the cave you'll find a small squeeze at floor level. The cache is in the small chamber imediately behind the Squeeze!!!!

The cache is a 35mm film canister. On the top of the log sheet is one of the following:

1, Lower case letter/s
2, Key="Capital letters"
3, North or West offset values

These will be required to complete the UNDERWORLD 8 Bonus cache.

Please read The Caving Code before attempting any of the UnderWorld 8 series.

PLEASE NOTE: IT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE TO DELIBERATELY DISTURB ROOSTING BATS SO IF YOU DO ENCOUNTER ANY PLEASE KEEP QUIET AND KEEP YOUR DISTANCE.

PLEASE NOTE: THE CACHE DOES NOT CONTAIN A PEN/CIL.

PLEASE REHIDE THE MICRO WELL AS THE CAVE IS USED BY MANY.
