About a mile north of the cache location the largest engagement in
Weakley County in the War Against Northern Aggression was fought.
On May 6, 1862 the 6th Confederate Cavalry attacked and destroyed
three companies of the 5th Iowa Cavalry.
As a child, I recall a 2-story house that was located near where
the Historical Marker is now located. After the battle, the house
was used a hospital.
