This series is the sister series to the Local Landmark series. Unfortunately, caches in this series will not qualify for LL's because they have drifted into the vast expanse of time. Gone but not forgotten. Thanks to mgbmusic for starting another interesting series in the area!

The night after scoring the FTF on DGB 1, I decided to place this cache on my way home since that first one reminded me of my favorite ice cream place from when I was growing up!  So, after looking around for a suitable location I made a quick stop across the street for supplies and made the placement.

Toots would have actually qualified as a "Hole in the wall" as well as a "Local Landmark". It really was just a shack on the southwest corner of the street. The regular food wasn't all that great, but the ice cream was wonderful, and very inexpensive. On a hot summer night the line to get in stretched down the street.

The other great thing was that they were open late back in the days when almost nothing was open late. I went out with a girl who lived a few blocks east of here. We used to make a lot of late night ice cream walks every summer. My personal favorite was the Zebra Cone, dipped.  The kids who worked there would load the cone up so high you always needed a fist full of napkins in a vain attempt to keep the ice cream from running down your arm as you tried to eat it faster than it would melt.

Like DGB 1, this piece of history closed and, according to the signs on the construction site, will soon be a yuppie ice cream parlor.

This is actually a DGB two-fer.  Besides Toots, this corner used to also be dominated by C Davis tool and truck rental.  Before the days of the super home improvement stores, C Davis was THE place in the neighborhood to rent all the home improvement tools you needed.  C Davis has been gone for many years, and now it looks like something will finally be moving in.

Grabbing some caches after a trip to American Science with Gurnee Glenn. I love bungalows and enjoyed seeing so many in this area. We stopped for a hotdog after making the cache. Sure is a busy intersection. TFTC

Decided today was the day for some cold weather caching, so michigan_chris and I set out for some urban caches, Due to a technical malfunction I ended up caching all day with the droid instead of the Colorado- no problems. Nice hide! TFTC!

I stopped by here today with salz69. With the freezing cold weather, we targeted some urban caches which kept us in close range to the car. Thanks for the cache!
