Geocache Description:

With the Geocaching Road Trip 2015 well under way and the High-Five for the Earth souvenir almost upon us, why not plan ahead...

Please join us in Astley Park, Chorley
On Saturday 1st August 2015 @ 09:30am
With the Friends of Astley Park
To bash some balsam, clear some litter
and generally spruce up the park ready for summer!

So impressed were the Friends of Astley Park (FoAP) with our efforts at the last CITO event held here that they've asked us back to help them with their ongoing efforts to beautify the park and keep it in the best possible shape for the enjoyment of all

We'll meet in front of the coach house at the published coordinates at 09:30 where FoAP will confirm our targets for the morning. The main focus of the event will be removal of as much Himalayan Balsam as possible and removal of any litter we come across during the process.

The event is expected to last around two hours, depending on how much work there is for us and, of course, how many people turn up

We'll be working under the supervision of representatives of FoAP who will bring along equipment, rubbish bags etc. but if you have a grabber / litter picker, please bring it along.

Wearing your best clothes probably isn't a good option as we may get dirty The area we will be working is quite dense and so gardening gloves and wellingtons or sturdy boots will be the most appropriate footwear as we are likely to end up in areas with some brambles / nettles and possibly alongside the margins of the river.

There is plenty of free parking to the rear of the park, behind Astley Hall (see waypoint provided). The only public toilets available in the park are also at this end - in the old coaching house.

When logging your Will Attend please mention how many will be in your party, just to give us an idea of the expected numbers.

That's all there is to it really - hope to see you there
