Tour of Walter Dam Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Mystery cache, four part, you will be on a tour through the Walter Dam Project stopping at various locations. This is my first cache, so I hope it's not too easy.

Multicache, located within F.E. Walter Dam Park. You will need something to write on and will have to do some simple math, so a calculator or pen and paper would be useful. You will also most likely need a flashlight. Depending on what time of year you may have to hike into the final 2 locations. These can be accessed from a few different locations so choose your path wisely (Middle of November to 1st day of trout season). The final cache contains allot of items for the fisherman, a few soft back novels, a travel coin, an Alaska and a New Hampshire geopin, pez dispenser, keychain, and various nick knacks. FTF prize will be a COE Challenge coin. There are quite a few caches in the area so you can be entertained for awhile. Francis E. Walter Dam was completed in 1961 and is an earth and fill structure 3000 feet long and 234 feet high. It is a multi purpose project and controls a drainage area of 288 square miles by providing 35.8 Billion gallons of storage. At the base of the intake tower are 6 hydraulic gates used to regulate the flow on the Lehigh River. For more information, stop by the Maintenance Office for a brochure. Boating 10hp or less, fishing, hunting, picnic areas, hiking trails, photography and whitewater rafting are just a few additional items to consider while visiting the park.
