This cache is placed with permission of the Davenport Parks Department. This cache has been placed in Sunderbruch Park to honor LyleVB and to showcase geocaching at the Grand Opening of Davenport’s newest jewel in their park system. The Opening ceremonies were held in early May, 2008.
LyleVB is one of the pioneer geocachers in the Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. LyleVB is noted for the quality of the caches he has hidden and maintained over the years. We salute LyleVB accomplishments by placing a cache that is based on a cache he hid called West Lake Maze (WLM) as well as his love of puzzles and difficult caches.
The basis of this cache is a three level maze using the same principles LyleVB used in WLM. We chose to use geocaching names for each part in lieu of animal names. To appeal to LyleVB’s love of puzzles, we encrypted each name as well as the coordinates for the next part. The method of solving the puzzles is to first figure out the encoded geocaching name, then decrypt the necessary coordinates. That being done, there is nothing more to do than go to the location and find the next part. The final container is an ammunition box painted silver.
To aid in the solution(s) of each part, we have attached The Amazing Geocaching Mystery Wheel. Its in .jpg format and should be printed, assembled and carried with you as you progress. It may not be possible to complete this cache without the Mystery Wheel.
Please help us maintain this cache by treating the parts with care and replacing them as nearly as possible to where and how you found them. The Piggly Wiggly Coffee Hounds thank you for your interest in our modest cache. We also thank the Davenport Parks Department for their cooperation as well as their enthusiasm for geocaching as family entertainment.
