Jsoup said it all already... great hike... or more of a mountain climb the way that we came. Maybe next time I'll try to find the other path. TFTC took hotwheel left a tin

I was reading thru the logs after my find and it appears that I may have gone a different way. We went up the mountain right after the mess hall by the two story building. I was on a hike to the cross but knew that there was a cache near by. We made it to the cross in 40 minutes and the trip down was much quicker. I was with krazie8s who found the cache first. I can say that this was a great hike and the view is unreal. Left a geo coin and took a hot wheel. TFTC

Wow, what a great hike. Definitely the most difficult one I've had to do for a geocache, but totally worth it. A bit of poison oak, especially on the lower portion. Tried to avoid it, but we'll see what happens in a few days. Cache didn't have any trackables. Signed log, hung out on the top for a while, caught our breathes and enjoyed the views a few minutes before sunset. Round trip took about 3 1/2 hours from the parking lot. Got out just before it got too dark.

This cache lured me to the summit of this great peak, left the drainage ditch too soon and followed the first ridge (ignor the rock cairn), very thick BUSH! Came down the ditch and it was much easier. I was inspired to do a mountain page on summitpost (visit link)

Took that cool little vase, left a blue bandanda.

this cache was the best stocked I have seen,

Travis

Mitch had mentioned this hike to me after he guided a group of us to Scab Island and El Indio. About a little more than week ago Mitch said that he wanted to do this hike so I checked it out and said I was in. We were on the trail by 11:30am and after a bit of redirection from the people at the Salvation Army camp we found "Diablo's Pipe". That was just the beginig of this great hike. The climb up the drainage was challenging. Where we decided it was time to cut off from the drainage was even more so. There was a lot of belly crawling and loose rock scrambling before we were in view of the Cross. Once there we dropped our bags did the celebratory high-five and began to look for the cache. After a few minutes of searching we had it. I left a geocoin and took nothing. We spent some time up top before some threating looking clouds got us on our way. The way back down to the drainage was alot of butt sliding and good fun. We made it back to the trail below with just a bit of light left. Definetly the toughest hike I have done to date and well worth it! Thanks for the cache with the GREAT destination.
