Geocache Description:

"Ichirizuka"s are the milestones which were built at every Ichiri(about 4km) of the main loads in the Edo period (16th century) by Tokugawa Bakufu(shogunate government).
A "Ichirizuka" is a mound made on both sides of the street with pine tree and Enoki tree on, and was used as a landmark for people traveling and an indicator of the fare calculation for people carrying luggage.

"Kasadera Ichirizuka" with the cache is the 88th milestone from Nihonbashi, Tokyo of Tokaido which is an old highway, located in Minami-ku, Nagoya City. There was a milestone in nine places in Nagoya, but it is only this milestone to stay now.

一里塚は、江戸時代(16世紀頃)に徳川幕府によって主要街道の一里(約4km)ごと築かれたものです。
街道の両側に土を盛って塚を築き、その上に榎や松の木が植えられ、旅の目印になったり、人足が荷物を運ぶ時、運賃計算の目安にされたりしたそうです。

キャッシュのある「笠寺一里塚」は、旧東海道の日本橋から88番目の一里塚で、名古屋市南区にあります。名古屋市内にはかつて9カ所に一里塚があったと云われていますが、現存するのはこの一里塚だけです。
