Geocache Description:

Delaware River Heritage Trail

This land is called the Heritage Trail at Woodlake Park, and it part of the Delaware River Heritage Trail (DRHT).  The idea of the non-profit Delware River Greenway Partnership, the trail will consist of 60 miles of biking and hiking trails that will help people develop an appreciation of the "cultural and natural resources along the upper portion of the scenic Delaware River esturary."*  Their website also ties in local history.  The DRHT stretches from Trenton to Palmyra, crosses the Palmyra-Tacony Bridge, and then travels from the Tacony section of Philadelphia to Morrisville.  Not all of the trail will actually be along the river (as you can tell by this part of the trail) and it is up to the counties and local municipalities to construct the trail, provide resources and initiate directional and interpretive signage.  The best place to park is across the street on Edgewater Avenue.  There is a NJ Fathers' Day scratch-off lottery ticket for FTF!  There is also room for swag.  *Information is taken from the Delaware River Heritage Trail and Delaware River Greenway Partnership websites.
