Solve the crossword puzzle below to obtain clues about the cache
location and container. There's some innuendo here, but I assure
you that it is clean and kid friendly (just don't giggle too loud).
Follow the directions below the crossword to calculate the actual
cache coordinates.
1. Circle and count the total number of vowels (A,E,I,O,U) in the
crossword. Only count a square once, do not repeat it for the
crossing of two words. Write the answer below.
2. Count the total number of Consonants (treat Y as a consonant) in
the crossword. Write the answer below.
3. Add the two totals to get the checksum. It should equal
45.
Number of Vowels = ___ ___ (2 digits)
Number of Consonants = ___ ___ (2 digits)
--------------------------------------------
Total (checksum) = ___ ___ (Should equal 45)
4. Multiply the number of Vowels times 8.
Add this to the published North decimal minutes.
ABC = 609 + (Vowels x 8)
Latitude = N40 47.ABC
5. Multiply the number of Consonants times 26.
Subtract this from the published West decimal minutes.
XYZ = 802 - (Consonants x 26)
Longitude = W74 28.XYZ
