Earth Day is April 22nd, and Rochester's Litter Bit
Better campaign is the week of April 17-24, it's a good excuse
to remind all of us to do some CITO. Plus partnering with LBB means
they provide all bags, provide pick up, and disposal.
The area we will be cleaning up is outlined on this
map, a central part (#346) of
Bear Creek Park. This CITO event begins at 6:30 pm; bring your
own gloves and beverage. Through LBB, we'll provide the bags
(separate ones for trash and recyclables), and arrange for pick-up
and disposal of all the trash that you bring back to the parking
area.
The log will be present, along with the waivers LBB requires, at
the parking area from 6:30 - 7 pm; you must sign the log and
waivers during this time to earn your smiley. Anyone under the age
of 18 needs to have an adult present to sign for them as well. At
8:15 we'll regroup in the parking lot to tell stories about the
strangest things we found while doing CITO, brag about how much
trash you managed to grab, etc. Note the coordinates of any trash
that's too big or hazardous and bring those to the regroup at 8:15,
we can report them for the City to remove.
There are several caches nearby this area, those in Bear Creek
Park if you arrive early, or a couple of new caches (which will be
made permanent after the event) in the area for finding during the
event.
