Geocache Description:

Second in a series of caches documenting historical Native American Lore. This is a small cache containing some bright shiney objects (this should interest DBSO Monkey) that the earliest Americans might have enjoyed.

When the first settlers arrived in this area, the chief of the local Calapooya peoples was Halo Tish. The Calapooyas were a peaceful tribe that tried to get along with the new people. The Klamaths often came across the mountains and made raids on the local tribe. On one of these trips they stole Chief Halo Tish's sister and some other young women. As they started back on the trail to the Klamath area, Chief Halo Tish and a few of his men took a short cut up to Rocky Point (where this cache is hidden) and waited for them to cross between them and the Row River. As the Klamaths entered the norrow gorge, the Calapooyas threw rocks down upon them. The Klamaths fled in terror, leaving the captives behind.

This cache is along the side of the Row River Trail but is also very close to the road, so can be reached easily. Watch your footing near the cache.
