Geocache Description:

Along with the entire Kilsbergsslope you can see shingle beaches once for about 10,000 years ago were Sweden’s southernmost outpost.

This shingle beach, plus another at Lövbrickans nature reserve about 400 meters north of this place, is the most impressive of these rock collections. This coastline is now about 160 meters above sea level. This means that the whole Närke plains, including Örebro, were at the bottom of the sea.

At these shingle beaches the surge of the Yoldiasea hits the land, while the land masses slowly rose when the inland ice retreated northward.
The waves processed solve moraine material, washed away everything good material and took the selection of gravel and sand to Närke plains but the biggest stones and bricks remained and formed these shingle beaches. Coarse sediment, consisting stones and small blocks, is usually well-cut with rounded edges and it is often a little flattened instead of round because it moved up and down with the waves in the beach swell area. The shingle beaches are often several meters thick and cavities between the blocks causes that rain water flows straight through. Seeds are washing down, but almost no vegetation will appear in the absence of humidity and light. Therefore these shingle beaches are not overgrown and largely preserved in its original.

Remember: Collecting or removing of these fossils is not permitted!
