Chiba temple is a temple of Shingon Buddhism Toyoyama group in Chuuo-ku, Chiba-shi. A principal idol is a Kannon with eleven faces. It is an opening that Gyoki that visited this ground in 709 enshrined a Kannon with eleven faces. It is said to have called itself Chiba temple by the order of the Emperor Shomu.
There is a big ginkgo tree called more than 1000 years years old in the precincts. It was appointed to the natural monument of the prefecture in 1935. In addition, the precincts are designated historic spots of the cities. Chiba temple is known as a noted place of the cherry tree.

千葉寺（せんようじ、ちばでら）は、千葉市中央区にある真言宗豊山派の寺院です。山号は海上山。本尊は十一面観音であり、坂東三十三観音霊場第29番札所となっています。寺伝によれば、709年（和銅2年）に、この地を訪れた行基が十一面観音を安置したのに始まり、聖武天皇の命により千葉寺と称したといわれています。1160年（永暦元年）に堂宇を焼失しました。千葉氏の居城である千葉城（亥鼻城）に近いことから千葉氏の祈願所とされました。
境内には樹高30m、目通り幹囲8m、樹齢1000年余りという大イチョウがあり、昭和10年に県の天然記念物に指定されました。また、境内は市の指定史跡です。千葉寺は桜の名所としても知られています。
