Geocache Description:

View From Manzanita Overlook

El Corte de Madera Creek is an open space preserve that is located along the crest of the San Francisco peninsula, just a short distance from the hustling pace of nearby Silicon Valley.  The Spanish name translates to "the cut of wood", referring to the area's past logging history.  Fortunately many trees remain and the canopy provides welcome shade on sunny days.

While hiking
with fellow geocachers on a beautiful February day along the preserve's Manzanita Trail, we were impressed with the great hiking and sightseeing that the preserve offers.  We decided to guide others to a scenic point that overlooks the Pacific coast by placing a cache near a sharp bend in the trail.

When placed the cache contained a logbook (please bring a pen) and items including
Not Another Micro pin, Ammo Can 2006 pin, a Garfield scout pin, Eagle81 SP #7 sig item, Marky & Joani pin and a camo geocaching.com wristband.

3/2024: The cache is now stored in a camouflaged pill container that is just a few feet from the trail. Parking at gate CM01/Skeggs Point or gate CM02 are both appropriate to reach the site.

Hike on!
