Geocache Description:

This is the site of the old Oxford Convalescent Home. It started out as a farm MANY years ago (will work on getting dates). When the Johnson family stopped farming it became a nursing home. It remained a nursing home for quite a while. The nursing home was no longer operational and the buildings had begun to fall into disrepair. The family decided to remove the buildings and organize a foundation (The Johnson Family Foundation) dedicated to the history of the site. It was sad to see the buildings gone, but the park is a wonderful improvement. The park is a work-in-progress intended to be completed by 2015. New paths will be added, including a path near the cache. Until then please use care not to trample the flowers as you make the find. The Johnson family has given permission to place the cache and don't mind people walking around the unfinished project. In fact, everyone is encouraged to walk around the area. Take some time to enjoy the beauty. We will be getting more information from the family in the near future and will be posting it to the listing, including photos of the old Convalescent Home and the prior farm.
