Coleman – Schwartz Farmhouse
This building is considered by the town to be the oldest house in the downtown historic district. In a deed dated April 6, 1852 the property was sold to Henry Schwartz by Robert and William Coleman, owners of the forge. The sale included dwelling house and outbuildings. Schwartz's son Oeterich moved into the house with his wife Anna In 1855. He purchased the property from his father in 1861 and it remained in the possession of the Swartz family until 1946 when it was sold to Dr. Spurgeon T. Shue and his wife Elizabeth. Dr. Shue added the one-story brick office to the building and practiced medicine here until his death in 1971. The building is currently the Victorian Tea Parlor.
