A Good Place Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

trippy1976: I have been looking at caches in the area that have been temporarily disabled for a while now and it looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time - the last find was August 12, 2004. Additionally, the state now requires a permit be obtained for caches placed on State Recreation Areas. Prior to this cache being replaced, it would need to have one of these permits.

As stated in the cache listing guidelines available at http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#maint
You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to hunt for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable time - normally a few weeks - in which to arrange a visit to your cache. In the event that a cache is not being properly maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an extended period of time, we may archive or transfer the listing.

While Geocaching.com would like to continue to hold the location for you, doing so blocks other cachers from placing caches in the area. We feel that this cache has been disabled for a period of time exceeding what is reasonable for the area, and thus I regretfully must archive it.

If you are able to get out and replace the cache and get the required permit, simply drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. I will be more than happy to take a look at it to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

Geocache Description:

The cache is placed on the Ortonville Recreation Area's several thousand acres. If you check out Zip code 48462 you will find another cache not far to the East, plus a Benchmark. Also to the East is a State Shooting Range. Algoe Lake was a limestone quarry many years ago. The land was farmed with horses. If you look around a bit you will find stone foundations from the past. Makes you wonder how they made a living.

This shouldn't be to difficult, altitude is about 1035 with nice trails. The cache is a plastic tub placed inside a white plastic bag. The name of the cache will be your clue. :-)
