Eeny Meenie Miney Elves Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Leprechauns: Today I hiked many a mile to pick up all the containers for the "Four Corners" geocaches. It's been a great three years for these. No missing caches, no damage to the area, nothing but fun and good hiking.

I hope that with the park now opened up for new caches, that someone else will hide some for me to find. If nobody does, I scouted out some cool spots today. Raccoon Creek is such a beautiful park and there should be more geocaches here.

Thank you to all who visited, and wrote all the nice logs. That is why I hide caches.

Geocache Description:

This cache is one of our "Four Corners" series of geocaches, designed to introduce you to the trail system in each corner of Raccoon Creek State Park. It was set up for the Earth Day Cleanup Event Cache held on April 26th, 2003, with the cooperation of the park management.

This three-part multicache introduces you to the Heritage Trail, running along the ridge on the south side of Raccoon Lake. Go to the Friends of Raccoon Creek website to see a trail map. You must choose between two trailheads for this cache. There are two micros, each of which holds half the digits for the final cache coordinates, and each of which is near a parking area. The intention is for you to enjoy a nice round-trip hike along the Heritage Trail. But if you are lazy and try to cheat by driving from one parking lot to another, you'll be faced with a choice when you learn the final cache location. Each approach direction will present you with a different type of challenge.

The coordinates posted above are for the parking area near Micro 1, and the beginning of the Heritage Trail. Micro 1 is nearby at N40° 30.279' W80° 22.766'. There is also a parking area in the vicinity of N40° 30.115' W080° 23.352', by the boat launch area. From that parking lot, take the C7 connector trail to join up with the Heritage Trail if you decide to find Micro 2 first. You'll find the container at N 40° 29.993' W080° 23.308'. Both micros are one-pint Rubbermaid containers. The final cache is a painted ammo can. Inside, you'll find lots of goodies, including a $10 Gander Mountain gift card for the first finder.

The round trip hike is highly recommended. Otherwise, you'll miss the grand view from the top of the ridge, looking down to Raccoon Lake, in the vicinity of N40° 30.123' W080° 23.195'.

New logging rule effective 12/10/05: Logs mentioning any commercial offsite game not approved by Groundspeak, Inc., are subject to deletion by the cache owner.
