Detective Fergusen, new to the squad, had received his first
assignment - the cold case files. "Good luck" snorted his new
Captain. They both knew all too well that the assignment was
devised only to see the new detective fail so he could be quickly
and justifiably culled from the ranks of this squad of good old
boys. The Captain made sure to not mention one important thing; Not
a single cold case had been solved in over a decade. "Bring it on,"
Fergusen responded confidently. He was not about to let this this
dinosaur get in the way of his promising career. "...and how about
we make a a deal: You pick the most difficult case, and if I can't
solve it in 5 days, fire me. But if I DO solve it, you're off my
back for good and you buy me a cup of kona joe every day." The
captain smugly nodded in agreement, and then a wide grin formed
across his face. "Catch Mike Chosco." Said the Captain as he pulled
the dusty, coffee-stained manila file from the bottom of the stack
and shoved it into Fergusen's chest. "Back in my office. 5 days."
As the Captain turned and sauntered away, Fergusen thought he had
made a big mistake. The file, last touched in 1976, was woefully
incomplete. It contained only 2 items: a blurry, faded, black &
white
surveillance photo with "1953" scrawled on the back; and a
single page of what this squad loosely referred to as
"investigative reporting." On that sheet was only the following
information:

Fergusen eyed the photo and read the lone piece of paper. Then only
a moment later, he smiled broadly himself. He was thinking how
sweet that cup of coffee would taste, in more ways than one. "I
know who this guy is! And I know just how and where to catch
him..." He said to himself as he walked out the door, GPSr in hand.
