Geocache Description:

The name of this cache (with apologies to Frank Zappa) is a bit misleading. Goblins are nasty, snot-nosed, mean spirited little fiends that you most defiantly do not want to ‘hobnob’ with if it can be at all avoided.

Standing less than two feet tall, a Goblin packs a lot of malice into a small package. They are reclusive nocturnal creatures, coming out of their caves by night only to strangle helpless woodland animals for fun, or to sneak around the homes of humans looking for trinkets and other shiny objects to pilfer. They keep this ‘treasure’ with them in their cave, and are quite possessive of it. Be careful when sticking your hand in a Goblin hole, because there is a good chance it will come back short a finger or two if the owner is hiding down there trying to protect its cache.

It is on Halloween night, however, when you must be especially wary of Goblins. For they on occasion like to supplement their usual diet of slugs and rats with something a bit sweeter. All of those Trick Or Treaters wandering the street make for tempting targets, and it is not unusual for several Goblins to form a pack and go on a candy bag stealing crime spree. If enough of them are grouped together, they may even make off with the children as well for an additional tasty snack.

Cache Notes:
Park on Pent Road in Weston - see waypoint. Head towards Trail Marker #6. The final approach requires crossing a slightly rocky stretch, and coming in from the wrong direction will make things a bit more tricky. The Kid Friendly Attribute is added because younger cachers will (hopefully) enjoy the container. Note the terrain rating, above comments, and your child’s capabilities before taking very young kids to this location, however. Please respect this beautiful preserve, and consider making a donation to The Nature Conservancy. In addition, a trail map can be downloaded here.

Enjoy!
