Geocache Description:


Climb up to this cache and you will be treated to expansive views over eastern Mission Trails and Santee. The cache is perched on a peak between Cowles Mountain and Pyles Peak. You can start your journey at one of several good access points. I prefer the intersection of Golfcrest Drive and Mission Gorge Road due to this route's relative solitude. On this trail you will pass close by the Pyle Driver cache. If you don't mind hordes of people and prefer a less steep route you might choose to take the main Cowles Mountain path, which will bring you within stone's throw of the Cowles Mountain cache. Either way the round trip will cover at least three miles and 1,000 feet of elevation gain. But its an easy hike as testified to by the hundreds who make the climb each week.

This area seems short on recent geocacher love. I hope to lure you back up to this fine part of Mission Trails. A couple of drinks are on me for the first finder: look for your "coupon." Better bring your own pen. Although this is not a mirco cache it could be characterized as a mini. Please replace the cache carefully as you found it once you have logged your find, and please let me know if the cache needs maintenance.

If you come during the heat of the day be sure to bring lots of water. Shade is scarce to non-existent on these mountains. The cache is not recommended for small children due to steep elevation changes in the vicinity. Remember geocaching carries inherent risks; if you choose to hunt the cache exercise caution and obey your common sense. Cache hunters assume all risks of seeking this cache.
