The Blue Wing Cemetery serves as an internment site for area members of the Ho-Chunk Nation who have passed.
You are welcome to visit this cemetery during daylight hours. Please respect the fact, this is a Native American burial site and is considered a sacred site to the Ho-Chunk People.
As you will note, one of those interred here is Ah Whoe Choe ga (Blue Wing) a former Chief of the “Winnebago”. Blue Wing lived in various places throughout central Wisconsin, and did enjoy living for some time in the Reedsburg area. While living there, the locals called him “Artichoker” because of how he would pronounce his Ho-Chunk name in English when asked. But truly, Blue Wing called the Tomah area his ancestral home. When Blue Wing passed away, he was brought here to rest alongside his forefathers that had passed away before him.
As with all areas of internment, please be respectful to those that may frequent this area, both in body and spirit.
The cache container is not in contact with any gravestones, monuments, burials, or memorials. Please respect the area. If the cemetery is in use, please refrain from caching this site.
