Gramma Fisher (1879-1960)
Mrs. F. Edna Fisher was a lover of lyric opera as well as an integral partner in Marshalltown’s Fisher Governor Company. Upon the death of her husband, Jasper Fisher, Edna served as president for ten years and was attributed with the improvement of personnel and management policies.
In 1954, Edna resigned from the position and her son, Bill (J. W.) Fisher, became president. Upon her retirement from the responsibilities of company president, Mrs. Fisher resumed her varied interests in travel and music. To those who knew her, "Gramma" Fisher was generous with her wealth and claimed no record nor recognition for large contributions to charitable causes. Edna established the Gramma Fisher Foundation which continues to fund lyric opera across the nation.
