Geocache Description:

Please join us for a geocaching picnic in Reid Park on Saturday, December 6, 2003 from 10 am until . . .

The above coordinates will get you to one of several parking lots.

Closer parking can be found at N32º 12.616' W110º 55.512'.

Rain or shine – we can meet, eat some great food, play some games, swap travel bugs, exchange tales of our geocaching adventures and more!

Once you find parking head for all the fun at: N32º 12.572' W110º 55.505'.

CACHES: There are quite a few in the area in and around the park.

PARK ACTIVITIES: Plenty of grassy areas where we can play games, so feel free to bring any lawn games you like – Frisbees, soccer balls, and so on. There are also plenty of play areas for the kids.

PLANNED ACTIVITIES:

  • This is the spot: Not a contest, just an interesting exercise where each team will be given a flag marker and a set of coordinates. You place your flag at the spot where you say the coordinates are located. Kind of puts things in perspective as to how everyone can get slightly different locations for a cache.
  • Build a travel bug: Bring a standard original Lego™ block (you can bring more than one), add your block(s) to the existing structure to help create a travel bug. The resulting travel bug or bugs will be given away at the end of the day. The lucky cachers will take the creation home, glue it together for travel, determine its’ goal and place it in a local Tucson cache. (Travel bug tags will be provided.)
  • Orienteering Course: A short orienteering type course to be run with GPSr instead of map and compass. This will start about 1:00 p.m. and will take about 15 minutes for each participant.
  • Frisbee/GPS Game: The rules and exact form for this are still under wraps, but it should be fun…
  • Commemorative cache: Bring something to place in a special cache to be assembled to commemorate the picnic and hidden after the event. There will be a special drawing to determine who gets to hide this cache!
  • Travel bug exchange: Bring any travel bug that you would like to exchange. Another cacher in attendance may be able to help that bug reach its’ goal.

Make sure to bring your own picnic basket of goodies and drinks to feed your team!

Log your RSVP with a note and add this page to your watch list – we will post updates as the plans evolve.

HOPE WE SEE YOU THERE!!
