In 1989, the state dept. of Trans. condemed the old steel bridge that crossed the pine river. Some local people thought it would be nice to have a wooden covered bridge. After six years of haggling with the state, they got permission to build it. However, the State promptly withdrew the funding. Consequently, the bridge has been funded and built by volunteers in the area. The little park is privately owned and maintained. It is open to the public, and permission has been obtained for geocachers. Enjoy! Dougger
