Geocache Description:

King Kalakaua and his wife, Queen Kapiolani, moved into Iolani Palace when it was completed in 1882.

King Kalakaua had electric lighting installed after meeting with Thomas Edison and traveling to see a display of electric lights in Paris.

The King also installed a modern communications system that included the recently invented Telephone.

This was five years before the White House had electric lighting or Telephones.

This Cache is near a small waterfall which was my playground for many years while I lived at the end of Waiomao Road.

To get to the Cache:

From 10th Avenue turn right on Waiomao and continue to the end of the road. There is a temple on the right. You can park along the edge of the road there or further up near the trailhead on the right side. When you get to the end of the public road you will see "No Trespassing" signs. Do not go that way - it is a private drive. Before the trespassing signs THE TRAIL BEGINS TO THE LEFT, JUST PAST THE MAILBOXES.

There is a steep climb down to the stream bed where you will then head upstream to a small waterfall.

You'll want to begin the short climb to the cache from standing on top of this small waterfall.

The cache is a Massive sized ammo can, suitable for any sized trade items, and is hidden along the base of the cliff.

This cache will require a bit of rock-hopping, and you will definitely get muddy in the process..
