Geocache Description:

Around 1800, Menomini moved to the area from Green Bay and set up wigwams of bent saplings and rush mats, naming the village "Calumet", the Algonquin word for 'peacepipe'.

Early traders in Fond du Lac sought the trade of these people at "the Indian village at the Pipe Creek, on the east shore of Lake Winnebago", where Shaginappi Park is located.
