Geocache Description:

Coordinates averaged due to trees. Do not park on the roadside nearest the cache. Stay on the main road or go ahead to the camp parking lot (don't worry about the tresspass sign so long as you stick to the parking lot/lake, the camp authorities were informed of the cache when it was planted). Cache is an ammo can hidden in mountain debris and brambles. Terrain warning is mainly for spring/summer when the site is a prickly buggy mess covered with active Boy Scouts. Long pants/DEET suggeste

A small memorial to a great Scout (my late father) and a welcome to those who would see the glories of Rainey Mountain.

The ammo can is sturdy and marked with a geocache sticker on top. Though very near Camp Rainey Mountain, the cache is actually planted on private property with permission. Inside are a few memorials to my Dad (laminated photos, his obit from the AJC, a copy of the Scout Oath and Laws) as well as a Rite-as-Rain notebook and several treasures for Scouters.

This cache was placed on 01/29/06 the first birthday after we lost my father. He was a lifelong scout and outdoorsman and often went caching with me on family vacations. He asked for his ashes to be scattered in this beautiful place, and I thank you for taking the time to look around at the lake and cabins and see the beauty and adventure here. May the laughter of these boys follow you home to your own lives (and if you plan to stay long at the lake, bring an old muffin or something for the ducks).

FTF to eagle_ford and his scouts. Congrats and thank you.
