Geocache Description:

This Challenge cache requires cachers to find and log VT’s 100 Golden Oldies before they can log this find.

The Golden Oldies Challenge is a challenge to find the 100 oldest, active caches in the state of Vermont. The first cache to be placed in VT, called Vermont 1 was placed Oct 14, 2000. At the time I wrote this cache page, the 100th oldest cache (still active) was placed on Feb. 16, 2004, called Stratton Microcache. Most of the older caches in VT were placed in unique and remote places, some were tuff to get to, and they don’t see much traffic anymore. If you would like a list of these 100 oldest caches you can run a Pocket Query using the “Placed During” “between”dates fields, or ask me by email and I will send you the list. The list will periodically need to be updated as older caches become disabled.
I placed this cache as my 200th hide (I adopted a few from other cachers who are no longer in the area, but my profile page says that this will be the 200th). Its in the same area as the archived Green MountainTraveler cache. It is the oldest archived VT cache that we have found, not long after we first started caching.
It is in the Camels Hump State forest just off the Honey Hollow trail, from the Duxbury road in Bolton. Trail head and Parking is at 44 22.296, 72 54.034. It is about 1.5 mile walk, but there may be closer access which require bushwhack.
Be sure to be careful and dress appropiately during hunting season.
You can send me your "My Finds" zip file and I will check your progress for this challenge if you would like?? But you are on the honor system.
Go out and find VT’s 100 oldest active caches, and then come hunt this one.
Container is a PB Jar. This hide should be rated dif 2, ter 3, but I rated it 5/5 to include the first 100. It should be winter friendly.
