A good hike thru the woods but mostly on reasonably passable old mining roads
This cache is in one of the most beautiful spots in the Center Region (in our humble opinions). We hike here often to relax and watch the clouds roll by. It reminds me of Maine. The cache shouldn’t be too hard to find, though GPS reception can be spotty so you may have to search the general area. Be sure to leave time to enjoy the surroundings. There are at least 4 beaver dams within a half mile of the site. Follow the water to the West and you’ll discover them and other unique features of this old iron mining area.
You can follow paths all the way except for the very end.
Begin at one of two parking areas:
Off of Tow Hill: N 40 45.981 W 078 00.947 (the easier walk)
Off of Shanelly: N40 46.668 W078 00.523 (better birding in the AM)
The Tow Hill access is mostly downhill getting there; the Shanelly access is up then down.
Remember this is State Game lands so please wear orange in during hunting seasons.
FTF honors go to JBT!
