Geocache Description:

This cache is in memory of Mike whose hikes always took him on this wooded stretch of the Fox Trail. In the winter, he would be here with skis on enjoying life. This cache is not far off the trail and in easy reach. Beware of barbed wire!

This cache is a clear plastic container with a few child-friendly items. This cache is located in Lake Wissota State Park. This park has 1,062 acres of primarily young, rich forests and open prairie on a 6,300-acre man-made lake. The park offers secluded campsites, hiking trails, and a 285-foot swimming beach. Pine forests, mixed hardwood timbers, prairie, and marshes are found in the park. The park has a permanent fishing pier especially designed to provide easy access for anglers with disabilities. Dusk is a great time for wildlife watching. Among the wild animals often seen at Lake Wissota State Park are white-tailed deer, badger, red fox, woodchuck, mink, otter, muskrat, and beaver. More than 200 species of birds have been sighted, and geese and other waterfowl often stop on the lake during the spring and autumn migrations. As suggested by the Wisconsin Geocaching Association for caches placed on WDNR managed land, I've included the following information. WDNR Geocache Notification Form 2500-118 has been submitted to and approved by Scott Erickson of the Wisconsin DNR, for this cache. Please note that any geocache placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resouce managed lands requires permission by means of this notification form. If you intend to place a cache on WDNR managed lands, please print out a paper copy of the notification form, fill in all required information, then submit it to the respective land manager. The DNR notification form 2500-118 and land manager information can be obtained at (visit link) . More information may be seen at the Wisconsin Geocaching Association rules for hiding a cache.
