Invasion of the Smurfs Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team GPSaxophone: JJasks and I had some scheduling conflicts, so we haven't gotten together to plan anything yet. Hope to see you all at Sax Man's Campout July 1st-4th.

Looks like everyone's logged their attendance for this event. Time to archive this cache.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Some of you have figured out that we’ve moved from Albuquerque, NM to Colorado Springs. Now that we’ve settled in, I’ve started placing caches. We’d like to meet the “locals” to discuss geocaching and the Colorado Springs area. What better way to meet than over dinner?

We’ll meet around 6:30pm on Saturday March 12 at "Extreme Pizza" on North Academy.
Bring your kids! This isn’t just for the adults.
Everyone’s responsible for their own meals.

Here’s a partial list of topics I’d like to discuss:

Maybe someone can explain to me why there are so many multicaches in the North Springs area! Many of the caches on my nearest unfound list are multicaches. It’s not that multicaches are bad, but a lot of these caches start in my area and seem to end up 10-20 miles away.

There aren’t a lot of caches in Colorado Springs, even compared to a similar sized city like Albuquerque. Let’s hear suggestions on improving caching in Colorado Springs, not just in number, but keeping the quality level high as well.

Do we need our own group? The C.A.C.H.E. group is based in Denver and seems to cover the whole state. New Mexico has a similar state group based in Albuquerque, but there are smaller groups in some of the other cities in the state. How involved with C.A.C.H.E. are the Colorado Springs cachers? Is there already a sub-goup? Should we get more involved? Should we form our own sub-group? Branch out on our own?

I’m not looking to make binding contracts as a result of any of these topics. Just because we explore an idea doesn’t mean we have change the way things are. I’d just like to get a feel for the local caching community and brainstorm possibilities for the future.

We can also talk about Sax Man’s Campout (2nd Annual) that will be coming up in June. I’d like to get some input on what YOU want to do at the event so it is more successful than last year’s (held in Raton, NM).
