Geocache Island Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

CoffeeIsGrand: This cache has been nothing but trouble lately. I'm going to archive it so the spot will be available to someone else. Between misunderstood "No Trespassing" signs to homeless tent communities I've had enough. It's a beautiful spot but I'm not interested anymore.

Geocache Description:

It's not an actual island

Geocache Island is not an actual island. My son named it when he was younger. I thought it was adorable and I went with it. It is a bit of land situated on Natco Lake. It is easily accessible from the Henry Hudson Trail and a great place to take a walk and enjoy some nature despite being so close to a highway.
This portion of Natco is situated within Union Beach. This town seemed like it would disappear off the map after Superstorm Sandy. Now we're better than ever and this lake is more evidence of our appeal to visitors. Feel free to take a moment to read about this area on the NJ Audobon Society's website here.
The recommended parking coordinates I've posted will put you at the starting point to follow the directions on NJ Audobon's web page.
