Geocache Description:

This cache is a quick park and grab and is located along Patriot Hills Drive in Stony Point. Geocachers will see some pretty cool buildings with an interesting history.

This cache is hidden along Patriot Hills Drive in Stony Point. The journey to this cache will allow seekers to pass some pretty cool buildings that were once part of the Letchworth Village Developmental Center. Letchworth Village was established in 1911 as an institution to care for individuals with developmental disabilities. It survived as a largely self-sustaining farm village for more than 50 years. Many of the buildings sit abondoned, some have been renovated and are in use. One of the most successful buildings is up the road at the Patriot Hills Golf Course. Kirkbride Hall, one of the main recreation buildings of Letchworth Village, sits at the entrance of Patriot Hills Drive. It is still in use today, mainly for basketball games and town events. Across Willow Grove Road, atop the hill sits the building that once served as the hospital and main medical building. As you pass the buildings, you cant help but make a mental image of what once was.
