Getting There
We suggest you park at The Lock Inn (N52°24.599'
W2°14.988') , and walk under the road bridge and down the towpath.
There may be other approaches, but we haven't checked them.
Certainly, the approach from the Kidderminster side is less
picturesque and harder to park.
Buggies and bikes can get pretty close, certainly within 400
feet before any lifting or carrying is involved. The track becomes
less suitable, but probably still possible, at that point.
Once you have found the cache, you may want to wander further
along the canal through the woodland area. There are several rather
dilapidated fishing platforms, but we haven't seen anyone using
them. Beware of biting insects.
The Cache
The cache is a small, camoflaged, screw-top metal jar,
containing an assortment of goodies for all ages, along with a
log-book and pen. You will have to approach pretty close to the
water's edge, but will not have to risk falling in, so don't get
that close! Keep kids safe! Also, please try to avoid
rolling the cache into the water.
The ground may be a little soggy underfoot, even in good
weather. There are a few brambles and hawthorns, but nothing awful.
You shouldn't need gloves or long sleeves.
Bonus
You may also want to tackle Lock ,
Stock & 2 Floating Barrels which is about a mile north of
this cache.
