Geocache Description:

Thing Valley Overlook

This is a beautiful picnic/overnight area right along the Pacific Crest Trail. The dogs love the walks along this path. You can stay on the trail almost all the way to the cache. No heavy bushwhacking should be required.

The road is closed during the winter; if so it's a longer hike but still easily doable. If it's open, the road is passable in a medium-clearance 2wd and there's a place to park not far from the cache.

You'll need a Forest Adventure Pass (available at the store in Pine Valley or in Laguna); NO FIRES; be aware that this area is also used by illegal immigrants coming over from Mexico.

I actually placed this cache four months ago, and I've been meaning to go back and double-check coordinates (was it 001, or 002?). I was actually aiming for the peak about 1/4 mile south but couldn't find a way up through the scrub brush.
