Historically known as High Mountain, this spot has come to be known
commonly as Pyramid Mountain. Though local historians wanted the
park to be named after High Mountain when it was opened, the county
chose to name it after the more commonly used name, Pyramid Mtn.
Whatever the name, there is a great view from the cache site, even
though it's marred by recent development on the next hill over. NYC
is clearly visible in the distance. I came to this spot on the
morning of Sept 11, 2001 to view the destruction in NYC from afar.
TimMCPA had a cache here that I had been watching for him since he
moved from the area. Not long ago I realized it hadn't received any
logs in quite some time, even though nearby caches had been logged
frequently in that time. A quick check of the page shows that it
had been archived. Since the hiking trail was recently rerouted
within 10 feet of the original cache site, I moved this about 150
southeast of the original site. On a nice day you will not be alone
here, so please be careful when you have the cache out. Best access
is via the blue blazed trail which starts in the parking lot on
Boonton Ave.
