The John Fitch building here was the old John Fitch High School from 1922 until 1952. It was the first modern high school in the town of Windsor and commemorates the seventeenth-century Windsor hero, John Fitch, who died in King Philip's war. His bequest to the town helped finance higher education in Windsor for over 200 years. After 1952 it became John Fitch Elemetary School through the 1980's. In the late 1990's it became the John Fitch Apartments with housing for senior citizens. You can park in the lot near the concession stand or very close to the cache.
