Geocache Description:

This field holds lots of good memories. I hit one over the fence during a 6th grade softball game, a grand slam, for the win! (and was given a funny nickname). We also used to play Kick Ball here, Dodge Ball, and Red Rover - all the classic kids games now deemed "dangerous" and pose a "significant risk of injury" according to new state regulations. Well, I think state officials are pretty wimpy! So look for the cache in a non-wimpy place and please put back secure. BYOP.

The John Fitch building here was the old John Fitch High School from 1922 until 1952. It was the first modern high school in the town of Windsor and commemorates the seventeenth-century Windsor hero, John Fitch, who died in King Philip's war. His bequest to the town helped finance higher education in Windsor for over 200 years. After 1952 it became John Fitch Elemetary School through the 1980's. In the late 1990's it became the John Fitch Apartments with housing for senior citizens. You can park in the lot near the concession stand or very close to the cache.

Congrats to a FOUR-WAY CO-FTF between VCrew115, chippup, gbunnells and loves to fish! Way to go... Too funny!
