This cache is located at the entrance of the Carappee Hill conservation park.

It was dedicated as a conservation park on 30th August, 1973. The park covers an area approx 920 hectares. Carappee Hill is the most extensive and highest exposed granite rock mass on Eyre Peninsula at 495 metres above sea level.
This is an energetic climb to the top which should only be attempted by people with a high degree of fitness; allow at least 2 hours to reach the summit. The trail is marked with white and green painted arrows from the southern point, with a book to sign at the summit, or stroll on down the eastern side. A great view, with wildflowers and rock pools in season and frequented by kangaroos and other wildlife.
The track around the base is accessible by two wheel drive, but from my experience, I would suggest that a 4WD is the better option. There are camping and toilet facilities available at around the half way mark.
The cache is a 2 litre screw top container with swaps os a pen, fridge magnet, packet of hooks and an RAA tattoo along with the log book and pencil.

Logged from my phone using the Geocache Navigator by Trimble. NO good in the dark unable to find it after extensive search and long drive. Oh well another day maybe!

Amazing to read the signs and learn it is the highest exposed granite mass around here. The GPS read 199m. The sign said 235. I was not walking up to the top.

Clear skies, TeamAstro.

Beautiful day driving around. Had extra geokids today showing them what caching was all about. I think that they are hooked. Smallest of our geokids found this one.
