Mosaic Me
A walking tour of some beautiful street art in Goolwa. No need to go on the gardens.

You will be visiting several public pieces of mosaic street art around the main street of Goolwa. All these items have been done by local artist Michael Tye or are community mosaic overseen by Michael Tye.

The co-ordinates start at a historical display for Goolwa and Australia that is in a showcase.

The first mosaic is laid in the footpath in front of the display and shows the historical item in use.

This community mosaic was made by the local youth, schools and Artists in Goolwa and consists of 4 panels and depicts activities and heritage around the area. It also beautifies an essential building used by the community.

The third piece is the newest in Goolwa and was completed in August 2008 for the 20th anniversary celebration of the Goolwa Library. It is called Ripples and members of the community were invited to come along and add tiles to this beautiful artwork

The last pieces are a footpath piece and a wall display. The wall mosaic is a well known bird seen often in this area and was a character in the well-known Australian book and film 'Storm Boy'.

The footpath mosaic depicts the Murray river flowing from the mountains through to the ocean and ties in with the flowing water feature running down the wall of the Library/council building.
