This cache honors our Conejo Cacher TWEETYBIRD440, a Seabee who was
recently deployed to Iraq. At the CC party for her in March,
cachers filled a big ammo box with great swag that reminds us of
what a special person she is to all of us!
So now you can go find it too! On the way, you might catch
glimpses of the Naval Base Ventura County where she has been based,
Mugu Rock where many of us witnessed her official re-enlistment in
2005, her house and incredible views of the ocean (we watched a
whale surfacing for several minutes), La Jolla Valley and Channel
Islands (when it's clear).
Many many thanks to all of you who added swag and especially to
CacheDaddy_Tortoise who carried the cache up the mountain for me
today!
If you trade, leave only patriotic items and TRADE FAIR!
Reach this from the La Jolla Canyon parking area or Chumash
trailhead opposite the Seabee shooting range on PCH. Steep climb
but well worth it, especially to honor this great gal.
Nothing special about the placement itself - just look in
sagebrush and buckwheat bushes.
At 34 05 484, 119 03 098, you'll reach a clearing. Take the
faint use trail N/E toward the small peaks.
If you're unfamiliar with this area, get a Pt Mugu State Park
trail map, as trails and junctions are seldom marked.
Great views of the ocean and beautiful La Jolla Valley from
here! Long pants, a hiking stick, and checking bushes carefully for
rattlers are all highly recommended!
SEE YOU IN THE FALL, TRACY!
