Bay Watch Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

chaosmanor: Went to check on this, and it is definitely gone. It has vanished 2-3 times in the past, especially after a food truck decided to set up shop here. We rarely come out this way, anymore, so we are going to archive this to make room for someone else. This was the first cache along the Malibu stretch of PCH, and it lasted for over 13 years, which is quite a feat. Thanks to all who came and got a Smiley here [:)]

Geocache Description:

Sorry, ladies; David Hasselhoff is nowhere around. Sorry, guys; while there are lots of bikini-babes nearby, you aren't likely to see any where the cache is! But if you keep your eyes open, not only will you find this cache, but you'll find a benchmark (EW6833), as well!

It's amazing, but there seem to be no caches right along PCH in the populated area of "old" Malibu. This should begin to make up for that lack. We hope that some locals might find some other spots along SR1 for caches. With luck and a group effort, maybe we can make this something of a vehicular "power caching trail"

The cache is of a type seen often, both the box and the method of hiding, so no hints as to what you are looking for. One of the photos (below) is something of a spoiler. It doesn't show you where the cache is; it shows you a view from the cache, itself. Still, it might not be enough to help much. The view of Santa Monica Bay was pretty good on the day we hid the cache; maybe you'll be as lucky! The container has a few small trade items: a geocoin, a georged dollar, a token from Knott's Berry Farm, a trilobite fossil and a polished piece of lapis lazuli. Please; no "junk" trades! Thank you

This is an incredibly busy place, and the metal-monster drivers are often pretty idiotic - they tend to straddle the lane lines, and ride partly on the shoulders - so extra care should be taken. And which side of the road it is on is for you to figure out There is room to park safely, well off the road, so it can be called a "park-and-grab" in all fairness. Just... be careful out there. And bring your boogie-board!
