One of our favorite views in Goolwa. Overlooking the former paddle steamer "Federal"
The cache is just off the bitumen road. Please be careful of the vegetation on the sand dunes. No need to cross fence. It is a screw top honey jar with the usual note book and swaps.
The former paddle steamer FEDERAL lies in the reeds at the edge of the river serving as a holiday home. It was built in 1902 in Morgan. It has a composite hull 21.6 m long and a beam of 4.2metres and was powered by a single cylinder non-condensing 10hp steam engine built by Robey and Co in England. She was used as a tow boat in her early life operating in stretches of the river from Mannum to Mildura.
