Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated to the memory of Fanny-Sperry Steele 1887-1993, one of Montana's colorful pioneers and a champion bronc-riding cowgirl.

Fanny Sperry Steele retired as the undefeated champion lady slick saddle rider of the world. Fanny Steele was born in 1887 near the Gates of the Mountains near Helena, Montana. Fanny rode in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. She will always be remembered by her friends as a quiet, honest, hardworking cowgirl from the good old Treasure State--Montana. This cache honors Fanny Sperry-Steele and it is hidden under the shadow of the Sleeping Giant, a well-known land feature where Fanny surely rode her pony, Napoleon.

The cache is an ammo can and initially contained pictures and stories of Fanny(please don't take), log book pencil and sharpener, 3 Stooges DVD, Clip watch, nail clipper, giggles, compact mirror, necklace and key chain. If you have anything you would like to contribute to the cache regarding Fanny Sperry-Steele, please feel free to add. Note: This cache is on State of Montana school trust land. You should have your $2.00 resident Conservation license or the $5.00 State Land permit to recreate here. One last note: This cache is in a place where rattlesnakes can occur. Please use great care or maybe even use a stick when you reach for this one. Please bring Bug Spray if your attempting in the spring, summer and fall.
