Geocache Description:

A commemorative micro in City Park in Iowa City.

Well, Father's Day, 2007, will live in our memories for some time! My 27-year old son and I decided that a father-and-son fishing experience would be just the thing today. He got his 12-foot jon boat into the Iowa River without incident, and stood in the back, extending his hand to help me get in from the bank. Forgetting how "tippy" a short, light boat like that is, we had concentrated all our weight on the back and to one side. The back of the boat went down quite quickly, and the water flooding in helped complete the conditions necessary for our descent into the river! Realizing I was underwater, I headed up and while my son straddled shore and boat in a prone position, I grabbed some grass and roots and climbed onto terra firma.

Since it was quite hot, we agreed that this actually cooled us down quite a bit, and we set out on our intended journey upstream. As we motored along, Andy was bailing with a tupperware container, and he yelled, I looked, and there was a frog in the boat! (Not Shelly's frog, that was a toad.) So, as we say, "Always An Adventure."

For some reason I actually had a waterproof match container (wish I had put my cell phone in something) and a bison container. When we got back, I took the log from the bison tube, put it in the match container and hid this cache. Be kind to the surroundings so it can be replaced easily. And, as always, have fun!
